Note plans are afoot by the Forestry Commission to plant more 'English Royal Forests' in Wales during 2012 another Jubilee Year and in 2013 60th Anniversary of the Coronation. Of course so called 'Welsh Republicans' will be doing very little about all this, pretty pathetic yes! But ironically they will waste time doing little of use, like dodging any protest action against visits of English Royalty to Cymru/Wales.

Other than this note that there is no mention of the Battle of Cefn Digoll on the CPAT Notice Board at site and why such a Notice with history of the battle is not placed at begining of the trail amazes me, not really after all this is Cymru/Wales. Will Maldwyn/Powys Patriots do something about that as contacting CPAT office in Welshpool requesting such similar to that at Rhyd Chwima be placed at Cefn Digoll and at start of all footpaths to the site:

We took the Offa's Dyke trail indicated on map in links above, getting to point here at start is best achieved by car via Leighton or Buttington outside Welshpool or via Forden if coming from South but note this route is by narrow lanes which will also take you to Long Mountain (Roman Road).

Pity! but always a next time and I shall certainly return.
Sian says perfect place to visit as a community or family outing for an Autumn Break or even in the Winter with snow on ground the view must be stunning. Could spend Xmas day here, no? best time I guess for the kids (Iuenctid Gwerin Owain or Glyndwr Rambler Youth) is Summer, easy walk and safe, they will just love counting pheasants running around everywhere. The wood is something else, a real wonderland for children but keep an eye on them or othewise they may be taken off to fairy land or be quite happy to join the Welsh Outlaw ghosts who once hid out here? Spend a good day there, picnic and mabigion tales of olden times the ideal read, when you walk around the wood you will see it's a place to let your 'Celtic Imagination' run wild and free!
